Grain fumigation in the grain-rail truck (food, seed, feed) may be carried out under the written application of the owner of the cargo. Phosphine tablets insert into a stream of grain during the loading of wagons or if it’s impossible, inserts into the wagons through the loading hatches on the roof though metal probes after loading. The tablets should be equally inserted in all hatches of the wagon.

Fumigation is also possible via insert of special capsules with tablets of the fumigant into the grain to a depth of 2 m through the every wagon hatches. When using plates/strips the insert will be equally on wagon to a depth of 1 m. Exposition takes 3-5 days in concentration - 25g • h / m3. (Depends on fumigant). If it is grain mite the exposition will take 10 days with concentration 450g • h / m3.

The recipient and the controlling organization at the place of receipt (quarantine service, customs) needs to be informed by the sender of the grain that the grain was disinfected and until it is inspected should be checked for residual phosphine concentration in the air and intergranular space according to the current situation.

Fumigation is a method of pest control that completely fills an area with gaseous pesticides—or fumigants—to suffocate or poison the pests within. It is used to control pests in buildings (structural fumigation), soil, grain, and produce, and is also used during processing of goods to be imported or exported to prevent transfer of exotic organisms. This method also affects the structure itself, affecting pests that inhabit the physical structure, such as woodborers and drywood termites.
